明治初年頃に硝子製造業を始めたと考えられている小川六三郎による製作と推測される筆巻。六三郎は、弘化4（1847）年に博多・中島町（福岡市博多区）に開設された福岡藩の精錬所で、硝子研究に携わっており、明治初年頃に上名島町に硝子工場を開いたと考えられている。〔第36回新収蔵品展〕
