荻野流は福岡藩で習得する藩士の多かった砲術の流派の秘伝書や相伝書。福岡藩は長崎警備で、火力に優れた異国船に対抗するため、砲術が盛んであった。石火矢は、火薬の力で大形の火矢を発射する武器で、手持ちの大形砲から発射し威嚇や船体破は壊などに使用された。〔第36回新収蔵品展〕
