明治45年（1912）7月に崩御した明治天皇の後を継ぎ践祚した嘉仁親王（大正天皇）は、大正4年（1915）11月に京都御所で即位の儀式を行った。即位記念の絵はがきには、即位礼が行われる紫宸殿、天皇が儀式の際に座る高御座などの写真が使われた。〔第36回新収蔵品展〕
