Description
Ryūkyūkoku Yuraiki (Records of the Origin of the Ryukyu Kingdom) is the oldest topographical resource concerning the Ryukyu Kingdom. The Old Records Bureau was established in 1703 in the royal government to amend the history based on the old records collected by the ORB which described the history and origin of different regions of the Ryukyus. Ryūkyūkoku Yuraiki, consisting of 21 volumes, was completed in 1713, when King Shō Kei was crowned.This existing book contains copies of "Tokashiki Magiri Yuraiki;" "Yokiya Noro Kumoi Denraiki," which describes rituals and ceremonies held by Yokiya Noro the high priestess of Nakagusuku Magiri; "Kudakajima Yuraiki;" "Goyōfu no Yuisho," which was passed down at Takue (Oki., Dakujaku) Village in Goeku Magiri; "Yūuji Keizu Nukigaki;" "Omoro Nushidorike Ganso Yuraiki;" "Omoro Nushidori Nikki Nukigaki;" and "Genka no Yurai."
