Description
本作は、反（そ）り浅く、鋒（きっさき）が詰（つ）まり、鎬幅（しのぎはば）広く鋭い感じがする姿。地鉄（じがね）は小板目（こいため）がよく詰み美しく、刃文は、湾（のた）れて刃縁（はべり）に小沸（こにえ）が微塵（みじん）につき明るく冴えるなど、まさに虎徹の典型作である。なお、虎徹の刀には、本刀のように幕府の試役（ためしやく）を勤めた山野加右衛門永久・勘十郎久英親子の裁断（せつだん）金象嵌（ぞうがん）銘を入れたものが多数あるのも特徴である。一般に三ツ胴（みつどう）以上の截断銘は少なく、四ツ胴截断銘の入る本作は、虎徹の作のなかで最も切れた記録を残すもののひとつ。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums
The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
