Description
本作は1882年、マネの生涯最後となるサロンへ出品されたうちの1点である《春（ジャンヌ）》（J.ポール・ゲッティ美術館蔵）に由来している。原作は、親友アントナン・プルーストから発注されたもので、当初は四季になぞらえた4点の作品を制作する計画であった。同作以外に《秋（メリー・ローランの肖像）》（ナント美術館蔵）と題した作品が残っている。モデルは女優のジャンヌ・ドマシー。マネは同作の制作にあたり新たに帽子を購入し、モデルにプレゼントしたという。晩年のマネは病を発症し、療養でパリを離れることも多かったが、見舞いに来る女性をモデルに筆をとるなど、美しいもの、新しいものへの関心は最期まで衰えることはなかった。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums
The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
