Description
この作品では、広場にある実在の教会のかわりに、気紛れに今にも壊れそうな建物を描き込んでいる。こうした絵は「カプリッチョ」（奇想画）と呼ばれ、18世紀には、しばしば実在するものと空想上のものとを組み合わせた都市風景画を意味した。本作の舞台となった広場は実在したと思われるが、描かれたいくつかの要素は架空のものであろう。広場の向こう側には、廃墟になりかけた建物があり、その周辺には幾人かの人物が散在し、左手奥に目を向けると、潟になっており、船が停泊しているという不思議な風景である。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums
The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
