The Tale of Uso-Hime (Princess Bullfinch) from Japanese Fairy Tale “Owl” うそ姫の縁起（ふくろふ）うそひめのえんぎ（ふくろふ）
Description
御伽草子絵巻。加賀国に住む83歳の梟（ふくろう）は、美しい鷽（うそ）姫に一目惚れする。山雀（やまがら）の協力で片思いは実り、姫の心をつかめなかった諸鳥は恋の歌を詠む。しかし、失恋した鷲（わし）は逆上して姫を殺害、梟は出家し、彼女の菩提を弔ったという。大型奈良絵本を改装したこの絵巻は物語後半を欠くが、数少ない『ふくろふ』の作例として貴重。華麗な挿絵には、当時の機智なども盛りこまれている。例えば、山雀の前に胡桃が置かれているのは、慣用表現の「山雀が胡桃回す」（もてあましていじり回すの意）を踏まえたものである。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums
The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
