Description
本来は六曲一双屏風に「源氏物語」54帖から一場面ずつを描いた源氏物語図五十四帖屏風。宇佐八幡宮社家の旧蔵といわれるが、約30年ほど前に場面ごとに切り離され、当館で23面を所蔵している。絵は大和絵風であるが松の幹や枝振りの描き方に狩野光信様式が認められ、桃山時代（おそらく慶長年間後半）、狩野光信に近い絵師の工房による制作と考えられる。本図は五月雨の降る夜、宮中で宿直する源氏のもとに、親友で義兄でもある頭中将が訪ねてくる。折りよく現れた左馬頭と藤式部丞も加わり、理想の女性像について語り合う、「雨夜の品定め」。源氏17歳
