This is a masterpiece of proletarian literature by Takiji Kobayashi (1903–1933), a type of literature that focuses on working-class issues and usually conveys an anti-capitalist, pro-socialist message. This is the first edition published in book form in September 1929, and it contains hardly any blanks or marks used to replace censored words.
