寄贈者と寄贈者の祖父が使用した四弦の筑前琵琶。筑前琵琶は盲僧が琵琶を奏でながら経文を唱える「盲僧琵琶」として始まり、明治時代中期に語りと芸能向けの「筑前四弦琵琶」が生まれ、さらに明治時代後期から大正時代初期にかけて「筑前五弦琵琶」が発明された。〔第37回新収蔵品展〕
