Description
湊川の戦いへ向かう楠木正成が、桜井駅で息子の正行に今生の別れを告げ、訓戒を与えるようすを描く。享保14(1729)年 に儒学者の伊藤東涯が賛を寄せている。絵の落款には「守辰」とあり、福岡藩御用絵師の小方守房の若年期の名乗りと一致するが、まだ類例が少なく検討がまたれる。〔第37回新収蔵品展〕
