Description
寄贈者の父・毛利通友氏が室見川や金屑川ほか福岡周辺の河川で使用した鰻とりの道具。水底を掻き、泥の中に潜む鰻を長い柄の先に取り付けた鉄製の鉤に引っかけてとる。福岡でもかつては盛んに行われていた。毛利氏の鰻掻きの腕前は、周辺の人びとにもよく知られていたという。〔第37回新収蔵品展〕
