上辺を刃とする利器。今から約29,000年前に、現在の鹿児島県錦江湾北部に位置する姶良カルデラが大噴火した。本資料は、各地に降灰したこの火山噴出物の下から出土した石器として知られている。九州北部では、姶良カルデラの大噴火以前の石器は少なく、市内でも最古に近い。〔第37回新収蔵品展〕
