ドライクリーニング師は、石油質溶剤を使って繊維、皮革製品をそのまま洗濯する事業者に1名以上置かれた専門職。都道府県が行う試験に合格すると免許証が発行される。ドライクリーニング師の名称が法律で使用されたのは、昭和25年（1950）から5年間という非常に短い期間であった。〔第36回新収蔵品展〕
