兜の鉢の上に、波頭の立つ様と広がる波紋をあらわし、銀泥塗の張掛が乗せられた、奇抜な兜。水面から頭を擡げる怪獣のような現代風の造形をしている。収納のために独自の長い箱も作られている。江戸時代中頃の、すでに合戦のない時代に、人目を驚かす奇抜さを楽しんだ変わり兜であろうか。〔第36回新収蔵品展〕
