明治24（1891）年に設立された小林商店は、現在のライオン株式会社の前身。夜歯をみがく習慣がある人が1割程度しかいなかった大正時代から、小林商店は「夜寝る前に歯をみがくこと」を提唱し、口腔衛生思想の啓発普及活動を展開した。〔第37回新収蔵品展〕
