背負梯子「オイ」は、使用者の身体にあわせて自作することが多いが、大工に依頼することもあった。平成9、10 年には島に運搬用モノレール（有料）が架設され、重量物を楽に運べるようになった。ところが震災後、車道がつくられ、車が通るようになると、オイやモノレールは使われなくなった。〔No.512 島とくらし―玄界島―〕
