竹製の籠。メゴは籠のこと。おもに海士が使うことから「アマメゴ」と呼ばれる。潜水漁でとれたアワビやサザエ、ウニなどを入れる籠として使われた。現在、竹製メゴはほとんどみられず、プラスチック製のものが多く用いられている。〔No.512 島とくらし―玄界島―〕
