本来は、帰還する漁船が港の人びとに大漁を知らせるために掲げる「大漁」の文字の入った旗だが、現在は祝い旗としても用いられる。志賀海神社七夕祭では、この一年に新造した船が航海安全の祈願のために参拝に訪れる。このとき、船を大漁旗などで華やかに飾りたてた。〔No.512 島とくらし―玄界島―〕
