縞や格子 、矢絣模様などの端切を継ぎ接ぎして作った日常着。衣服を着続けると布地が擦れて弱くなり、綻んだり切れたりするため、度々補修する必要があった。そのため、普段から衣類を解ほどいた古布や端切を捨てずに残しておいた。
