The Bodhisattva Kannon 観音菩薩坐像かんのんぼさつざぞう

Description

This sculpture of the bodhisattva Kannon might have been made as a figure of the Virgin Mary. It resembles standard representations of the Water-Moon Kannon, yet also appears to have been modeled after The Madonna and Child Enthroned, a motif in Christian art admired by the Franciscan Order of the Catholic Church.
