Description
This statue of a Buddhist deity illustrates cultural links between China, India, and Japan. It was created in China in the 600s in an Indian style. Around this time, Chinese monks were traveling to India, the birthplace of Buddhism, and returning with scriptures and images that influenced Chinese art. Later, the statue was brought to Japan and preserved at a shrine in Nara.
