Description

Bamboos, ivies, roses, thistles, pegonias, poppies, hollyhocks, cockscombs, and millets are painted in the Sotatsu-style (direct touches of subdued colors against gold background). Even though bearing the seal of Inen in the lower right corner, the work, which emphasizes a realistic representation of nature and different color-tones, should be attributed to the Sotatsu school of artwork. There are several varieties of this type of sliding door panel painting with a unique composition, such as the open fan-shaped circle arrangement in this case.
