Description
ウィーン・アカデミーに学んだ。1907年クリムトを知り、生涯親交を結んだ。クリムトの影響のもと創作活動を開始し、後にホードラーや浮世絵の影響も受けた。クリムトとは対照的に、表現主義的な感情表現表出の方向へ進み、愛情の哀歓を心理的分析を加えつつ描写した。油彩画や版画などの作品も多いが、その本領をドローイングの分野で開花させ、細身の人物像にその特徴が現れている。
