表紙に「芝居」とある。千歳座、新富座へ書いた「口演」、常磐津による浄瑠璃所作事『戻駕色相肩』や『魁源平躑躅』の番付語り、「忠臣蔵」「島鵆」ほか明治期に新富座の劇場前を飾った絵看板の下絵など。芝居の上演に際し、必要に応じて黙阿弥が自ら執筆し、描いたものを中心とした貼りこみ帳。役者の配置やその変更点の修正、狂言作者の氏名の配置など、細かな指摘が見られ、隅々に至るまで丁寧に監督の眼が行き届いていた様子、立作者としての仕事ぶりがわかる。
