Description
司馬江漢が天明年間(1781-1789)に制作した風景銅版画のひとつ。1776年ロンドンで刊行された『新編英国名勝記』に「ストウ庭園内のサーペンタイン河と人造洞窟」という、本図と類似する挿絵があることが、最近の研究で指摘されています。つまりここに描かれているのは、ロンドン郊外にあるテンプル伯爵家の庭園風景で、この表題は「Serpentine」が正しいということになります。 【江戸の絵画】
