The Miyazaki Prefectural Museum of Nature and History traces its origins to the Miyazaki Prefectural Museum, established in 1951 (Showa 26). It opened in 1971 (Showa 46). Its permanent exhibition halls use approximately 8,000 artifacts to clearly introduce "Miyazaki's Nature and History." Additionally, the outdoor Traditional Japanese House Park features four relocated and preserved traditional houses, including National Important Cultural Properties.
