Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

広島県広島市中区中島町1-2 / 1-2 Nakajima-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was opened in August 1955 to inform people of all nations of the actual damage caused by the atomic bomb, and to contribute to the abolition of nuclear weapons, as well as the realization of lasting world peace. It collects and displays belongings left behind by the victims, photos depicting the horror of that event, pictures drawn by atomic bomb survivors, etc. The museum also contains exhibits about Hiroshima before and after the bombing and the history of the nuclear age.
