Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is located within Ocean Expo Park in Motobu Town, Okinawa Prefecture, and is a facility dedicated to recreating and presenting the rich marine world of Okinawa. Under the theme “Encounter with the Sea of Okinawa,” the aquarium systematically exhibits the diverse marine life found in environments ranging from coral reefs and the Kuroshio Current to the deep sea. This archive makes available visual materials and related resources accumulated over approximately fifty years through the breeding, exhibition, and research of marine and freshwater organisms from the waters surrounding Okinawa, beginning with the opening of its predecessor, the Okinawa Ocean Expo Memorial National Government Park Aquarium.
