Description
十種香箱は組香（くみこう）に使用する香道具一式を収める箱。主な道具は、聞香炉（ききごうろ）二個一対、火道具（火箸、うぐいす、火味見（ひあじみ）、羽ぼうき、灰押（はいさじ）、香さじ）、火道具立て、香割台、銀葉箱、銀葉、銀葉盤、重香合（じゅうこうごう）、折据（おりすえ）箱、香包、記録盤、刀子（とうす）、金槌、のみなど。二段重ねのものが多く、納められている道具と意匠が統一されている。初音という名称は、『源氏物語』の初音巻に詠まれる和歌に由来している。「初音」はまた「初子」に通じ、婚礼調度の意匠としても好まれた。初音の調度で有名なのは、尾張徳川家に伝わり、現在は徳川美術館に所蔵されている国宝《初音の調度》で、徳川第三代将軍・家光の長女である千代姫が、尾張徳川家第二代・光友に嫁ぐ折に制作された婚礼調度。このように、古くから大名や上流階級の息女は嫁入りの際に十種香箱を持参するのが習わしとなっていた。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums
The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
