Description
佐々木盛綱は、平安時代末期から鎌倉時代初期にかけて活躍した武将。源頼朝に仕え、源平の戦いで活躍した。備前国児島の城に立てこもった平行盛を攻め落とす際に、漁師から馬で渡れる浅瀬を聞き出し、海峡を馬で渡って先陣を切ったとされ、この合戦は謡曲「藤戸」の題材となっている。また佐々木盛綱と高綱の兄弟は、歌舞伎でも「近江源氏先陣館」の七段目「盛綱陣屋」の題材となっている。ちなみに歌舞伎では鎌倉時代、源頼朝の息子頼家と実朝が、京方と鎌倉方に別れて天下を二分する大乱となったという設定だが、これは大阪冬の陣、夏の陣を暗喩させるもので、登場人物の佐々木盛綱・高綱兄弟も、真田信幸・幸村に相当する。本図でも佐々木家の四ツ目結の紋が、まるで真田家の六連銭のように描かれている。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums
The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
