Description

本作は1862年に制作した《スペイン帽とギター》（カルヴェ美術館蔵）に描かれた主要な部分を版刻したもので、同作はマネのアトリエの扉の上に飾られていたという。こうしたスペインの異国情緒を醸し出した、いわゆる「スペイン趣味」の画題はマネの初期作品を象徴している。本作と同じモティーフは、マネが1862年、最初に版行した8点のエッチング集の表紙の一部に採用されている。その後、第2版（1874年）では帽子、ギター、マントという3つのモティーフにタイトルをつけた形で再構成され、本作ではそのタイトルの部分も取り去られ、モティーフのみが作品として収録されている。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums

　The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. 　JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
