Folding Screen with Design of Autumn Flowers 秋草図屏風あきくさずびょうぶ

Description

草花図の中でも秋草図は一つの定番として多く描かれてきた。比較的小さな寸法で仕立てられた屏風の横長の画面に、芒と萩を4つの草叢に分け、バランスよく配置しており、画面に散らされた金銀の砂子は、月光や霞、土坡などを効果的に表すと同時に、奥行きの演出にも一役買っている。こうした図案では月も一緒に描かれるのが主流であるが、ここでは見つけることはできない。また銀の砂子は経年による酸化が激しく、現在では黒く変色している。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums

　The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. 　JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
