Stirrups Decorated in Maki-e with Diamond-Shaped Flower Unsigned 花菱蒔絵鐙　無銘はなびしまきえあぶみ　むめい

Description

4つの花弁を菱形に合せた花菱紋を菱繫の連続文として蒔絵で表した鞍と舌長鐙。双方が同様の意匠と技法で飾られている。乗馬で用いる馬具の一種である。居木と前輪と後輪の背面は梨子地。鐙は鞍の両側に鐙革で左右一対を吊下げて、乗る人が足を掛けるもの。踏み込みの内部は朱漆塗。紋板は透かし彫りで橘を表わす。鞍の前輪と後輪をつなぐ居木の裏面右側に陰刻銘「京保十二年三月吉日」左側に「政吉(花押)」がある。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums

　The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. 　JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
