Description
本作は、身幅（みはば）広く腰反（こしぞ）り高く、中鋒（ちゅうきっさき）詰まって猪首（いくび）になるなど鎌倉時代中期の力強い太刀姿を呈し、平肉（ひらにく）も良く付き、往時の姿を留めている。よく練（ね）れた地鉄（じがね）には乱れ映（うつ）りが立ち、足（あし）・葉（よう）が豊富に入り、華やかな重花丁子に蛙子丁字（かわずこちょうじ）を交えた大模様の刃文は力強さと迫力に満ちており、福岡一文字派の真価が十二分に発揮された屈指の一口といえる。細川護貞氏旧蔵。昭和25年（1950）、国の重要文化財に指定されている。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums
The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
