Vase with Phoenix Head, White Slip 白地鳳首瓶しろじほうしゅへい

Description

この鳳首瓶も遼独特の形としてよく知られている。底は小さく、胴部が膨らむ形態で、細長い頸にはしっかりとした突帯を巡らし、より簡素化された鳳首の上に輪花状の口縁が付く。鳳首の目には、鉄絵を施す。この鳳首瓶も、その祖形は、唐時代の鳳首水注などに求められ、遼時代中期（11世紀）以降に緑釉や褐釉など低火度釉のものが数多くみられる。しかし、この作品のような白化粧して、透明釉を掛けたものは、あまり知られておらず、貴重な作例である。鳳首上半は後補。

The Japanese Council of Art Museums

　The Japanese Council of Art Museums (JCAM) supports the accomplishment of mission of art museums and seeks to assist art museums in fully basing their activities in a social context. The organization holds an annual meeting, memorial forums at annual meetings, lectures, Curatorial Study Meetings, and Study Group activities every year. The information and reports generated by these various activities are then expected to be shared with member museums, the greater art-related world and the general public. 　JCAM was founded in 1952 with the aim of providing a forum for art museums in Japan to think and act together. The organization was registered as a general incorporated association on April 1st, 2020 and includes over 450 members (full members, individual members and supporting members).
