Description
時速300㎞で走るN700系の車軸です。両端に取り付けられた車輪は直径860㎜で、鉄に約0.7％の炭素が含まれる高炭素鋼と呼ばれる材質です。炭素を含むことで純鉄よりも固くすることができ、強度を保つことができます。さらに、線路と触れる踏面（とうめん）には焼入れがされており、より強度を確保しています。そして国内を走っている鉄道の車輪は、全て大阪の日本製鉄株式会社が製造した、メイド・イン・大阪です。
