毎年２月、北海道札幌市内の大通公園を中心に開催される「さっぽろ雪まつり」。会場には、高さ１５メートルあまりの巨大な像など、バラエティに富んだ雪や氷の像が展示されます。海外からも多くの観光客が訪れる冬の北海道を代表するイベントです。夜になると、ライトアップされた雪像がより迫力を増し、見る人を幻想的な世界へと誘います。
