西大寺西大寺

Description

奈良県奈良市にある西大寺は、７６４年に称徳天皇によって建立されました。創建当時は壮大な伽藍を誇る豪華絢爛な寺でしたが、平安時代に一時衰退。その後、鎌倉時代に叡尊（えいそん）上人によって復興されました。寺には、叡尊の救済の精神から始まった行事「大茶盛」が現在も行われています。
