中尊寺中尊寺

岩手県北上盆地南部にある平泉は平安時代末期、奥州藤原氏の拠点として栄えました。中尊寺は前九年・後三年と続いた戦で亡くなった霊を敵味方の区別なく慰めるために造営されたものです。奥州藤原氏の副葬品から発見され８００年の眠りから目を覚ました中尊寺ハスは毎年梅雨時に次々と花を開きます。
