Description
The Japanese huchen (Parahucho perryi [Brevoort]) is one of the largest freshwater fish species in Japan. The largest ones measure more than 150 cm in length. This once-ubiquitous fish has sharply decreased in number due to river environment degradation caused by river improvement works and other reasons. Today, robust activities to protect the species are under way.
