Description
飼い犬の供出を求める回覧板。対米開戦後、物資が不足していく中で、航空兵の防寒帽や航空服に使用する犬の毛皮が集められていた。当時、八日町一・二丁目の隣組の組長をつとめていた坂本太七氏は、回り終わった大量の回覧板を全て保管して残した。本資料はその中に綴られていた1枚である。 昭和19年（1944）11月15日に政府（軍需省・厚生省）が出した通牒「犬原皮増産確保並狂犬病根絶対策要項」により、各地で野犬の捕獲と飼い犬の供出（買い上げ）が行われた。その背景には、軍用に供出されていた兔の生産量減少があった。兔の毛皮は、防寒帽、防寒靴、外套の裏地などに用いられ、一般家庭や学校でも養兔が奨励されていた。しかし昭和17年頃になると、児童に勤労奉仕が課せられるようになり、兔の世話をする余裕がなくなった。また、家庭でも人手不足と食料不足が深刻になり、兔は食料として消費され、供出量が激減した。こうして兔の代わりに犬の毛皮が使われるようになったのである。 「犬の特別攻撃隊を作って」とあるのは、毛皮が特攻隊員の帽子や航空服に使われることを示しているのだろう。犬の供出に関する資料は全国的にも少なく、貴重である。

Hachioji City
About 40 kilometers of Hachioji City is located in the distance of the about 40 minutes by train from Shinjuku to west from a Tokyo center. The topography is like a basin for the most part, and the north, west and the south are circled in about 800 meters of hills from 200 meters of sea level, and the east leads to Kanto-heiya. This city met 100 years (per 2017 years) in 2017 from enforcement of municipalism in 1917 (1917). It'll be a core city in the first Tokyo in (in 2015) April, 2015, and the development is continued as Gakuen-toshi where a university of 21 was held as a leading city in Tama area of about 580,000 people of population.
