Summer Kimono (Katabira) with Sumiyoshi Bay 帷子 白麻地住吉浦風景模様かたびら しろあさじすみよしのうらふうけいもよう
Description
This kimono depicts Sumiyoshi Bay, a famed location often referred to in Japanese poetry. The scene includes shrine buildings, Shinto gates, and salt cauldrons on the shores dotted with pine trees. The founder of the Daihiko brand dated this kimono to the latter half of the 1700s, deeming that a paste-resist dyeing technique called [yūzen] had been used.
