Description
Originally, this object was used as a backpack by monks conducting ascetic training in the mountains. Later, it was converted to a bookcase. The surface has been painstakingly carved, lacquered, and embellished with gold foil. It depicts plants and animals associated with Mount Penglai, a mythical realm of immortals.
