Description
The Nabeshima kilns in southern Japan produced luxury porcelain as gifts for elite samurai. This Nabeshima dish features a semi-abstract design of two gourds floating down a stream. Gourds are a type of fruit with many seeds, so they symbolized the birth of many children to carry on the family name.
