Description
This elegantly decorated jar was exhibited at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. The potter Kinkōzan Sōbei VII (1868–1928) created many of such brilliantly designed works for overseas export. He based his craft on the techniques of his father, which involved the use of multicolored enamels and gold on traditional Kyoto ceramics.
