Description
This is a deluxe version of the [haramaki] (“belly wrapper”). This type of armor was popular during Japan’s medieval period, which lasted from the late 1100s to the late 1500s. The silk lacing covering the surface interconnects the armor plates underneath. It could be dyed in various colors to show the wearer’s allegiance or aesthetic tastes.
