Description
Kannon is regarded as the bodhisattva of compassion as she is believed to rescue believers from suffering. This sculpture features green waves and red orbs at the base of her pedestal, and it is likely that the entire sculpture used to be colored with pigment. It is believed that this was added to the white porcelain when it was made for export overseas.
