Description

This letter bears the official seal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537–1598), the most powerful samurai warlord of his time. In the letter, Hideyoshi expresses his gratitude to the Buddhist temple Honganji in Kyoto. The temple, which was in decline, had sent Hideyoshi valuable gifts to gain his support.
